| WELCOME NOTES FROM OUR CONFERENCE LEADERS |

Welcome to a very special creative event in Melbourne this Spring. I am personally excited and delighted to host the first-ever major conference in the Melbourne Recital Centre, recently named 'the world's most beautiful new building'. What makes it even more special is that the majority of sessions will take place in the wonderful Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, named after one of my role models and friends, the inspirational Dame Elisabeth Murdoch. This will be a place to connect, create, explore, share and learn. A place to be entertained and inspired. A place to imagine the future. Creative Innovation 2010 will bring together Australian and international leaders and talents to focus on the future. In spite of our different world views and the many places we work, we share a search for meaning. We all long to make a difference and leave the world in better shape for our children. How can we best solve the personal, organisational, community and global challenges we currently face? Creativity is the strategic tool of the 21st Century. Imagine if we could listen to and learn from each and every voice. In these uncertain times we need to re-invent the future, and re-invention demands creativity. Unleashing creative potential that exists within all of us will bring forth innovative solutions to the challenges and opportunities we face. Please come along and join us for what promises to be an unforgettable experience. Who knows what together we may achieve? Imagine if…. As Margaret Mead said: "A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
"Imagine if we could change the world. This is a unique opportunity to engage with extraordinary people whose life has been transformed by turning good ideas into something useful. Success in doing so is an art not a prescription and the recognition and adaption of this is a prerequisite condition for a community to be successful innovators. Our need to make that transition has never been greater. This great symposium is a very special opportunity not to be missed."
"Imagine if... bureaucrats were smarter, books were cheaper, executive remuneration was fairer, competition was rife and collusion was no more. No, no - that's just the KPIs for my day job(s). Imagine if…we could unlock the creative potential of all our citizens, including those now limited and diminished by medical labels. Imagine if… every bringing-together of great minds, like this one, ended up innovating for the public good. Imagine if… our leaders stopped thinking that what we did yesterday will be enough for tomorrow." |
